Question Microphone doesnt work but headphones do

i currently have the asus vg278 monitor and i have plugged in a steelseries headset into the audio jack at the back of the monitor. i am able to get sound, however i cannot get the microphone to work. I have gone through the control pannel and it says that playback works through the monitor (as expected) but there is no microphone detected. any help?

I believe that headphone jack is for sound output only, not mic compatible.

Normally there's a red jack for mic too. In the specs on your monitor I only see audio output. You also need input.
