Microphone front panel jack stopped working.

Hello. Yesterday when I was going to play a game with a friend and talking through skype my microphone had stopped working. I called the skype sound test and all you could hear were small clicks and the microphone worked just fine the day before. My case is about 3 weeks old and it's a Corsair Spec-03 and i'm using an MSI motherboard, if you need more hardware info, let me know.

Yes, it does but it makes a very fuzzy noise that was got pretty bad yesterday when I used it in the back port.

You said it was new...did you connect the front panel Audio Header to the MOBO with the AC97 lead or the HD Audio lead? There's a difference depending on what Sound is on the Motherboard. I'll assume it's new too so likely HD Audio

I would suggest checking the jacks with another device if it's still a problem I'd RMA the motherboard to MSi

Well, I had the same problem with my old case, but that one didn't work from the beginning and when I got the new case it worked fine until now.

I'd RMA the motherboard most likely but check with another device first just to make sure!

The mic works fine on other devices, and other mics don't work on the PC so it's either the jack, the wire or the motherboard..
