Microphone installation

Just plugged in a headset with a microphone attached. Sound works, but not
microphone. Tried to install DirectX, didn't help. Can't get speech
recognition to work. I have Office 2000 running on XP Home. Any help would be
appreciated.

Click on you sound icon in the lower right hand corner. Click on options in
the upper left hand corner. Go to properties. Click on recording and make
sure the microphone is checked.
