Hi all, I recently purchased a brand new acer aspire vn7-591g laptop and i bought a corsair raptor hs30 headset to go with it.
On the laptop i only have one 3.5mm audio jack so therefore this is the reason why i bought the headset as that has one wire which i can plug into the laptop. It plugs in fine and I can hear audio clearly, but when i try talking through the mic, my voice is hardly being picked up. It will make some noise if i hit the end of the mic but thats barely able to be picked up either.

I have found that if i tick the box for 'listen to this device' on my microphone i can hear myself normally but people can hear the sound coming playing on the laptop as well such as when im playing youtube videos or games, etc. When I plug in the headset the device doesn't show up (im not sure if this needs to) .. Does anybody have any solutions to sort this out?

I'm currently running windows 8.1
Nvidia geforce gtx 860m
intel core i5, 2.9ghz > 3.5ghz (turbo)
Realtek hd audio

Thankyou

whatever program you use to chat, there'll be an audio slider in the options of the program. For skype, it's in the options, audio settings, and I recommend unchecking the box that says "Automatically Adjust Microphone Settings". Then put the slider to max or near max for your microphone.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have done that and the slider was already at max and there is no change. If i use it on my pc it works fine but my laptop is a different story.
When i click on recording devices when i talk through the mic it only ever reaches one bar at times when i make a loud noise.. :s
