Microphone Jack not working..

Hello, I use a common microphone that works on other PC's, however, on this PC, it does not pick up sound. If I use Microphone Assist in settings, it works...but the input volume is all bad. Any Help?

What microphone?
What motherboard?
What audio drivers?

Did you try turning up Mic boost in the recording devices settings?

It's possible your mic isn't compatible with the motherboard's audio drivers.
