Microphone not working after installing windows 7

So recently I upgraded to windows 7 and everything is working but my microphone isn't being detected by my computer. I installed the drivers and everything but my computer refuses to pick it up, It is one of those headsets that has a green and pink cord if that helps but no matter what pink plug I put it in nothing pops up, anyone know what I should do?

PC and honestly I don't know I think it's gateway (gateway logo pops up upon starting computer) so I thing that is right
