microphone not working at all

ive never been able to get my mic working on this pc since i got it. ive been
thru umpteen trouble shooting guides but nothings worked. ive tried
everything in the control panel and three different mics. "speech" in the
control panel only has onetab. it doesnt have voice recognition. can anyone
help?

First, you need to make sure that you have a sound card that supports a
mic input. Second, make sure the mic is plugged into the correct port.
Third, make sure the mic is chosen as the audio input device
(Start-Control Panel-Sounds and Audio Devices-Advanced (under Device
Volume). Now click Options, Properties, Playback, then click OK. Now
make sure the microphone is selected as the input audio device. You
will also need to make sure that you have the proper drivers installed 😉
