So, I have the ASUS 270e motherboard, and I'm not sure how good its sound card is, in comparison to separate USB sound cards. I've recently purchased the AT2035 microphone, with a Yamaha MG06X mixer. I'm new to sound, and how it all works, so, I'm wondering a few things. I have the Hyper X Cloud II and these headphones come with their own sound card, that I plug in via USB, of course. The microphone I've purchased, when plugged in to the mixer, can only output through stereo jacks, or XLR. My question is, should I invest in a sound card to plug in my mic, and now my headset in too? Or, should I purchase a left and right stereo to 3.5mm adapter (Forgot I would need it, will order soon if I need it) and plug it into my PC via 3.5mm jack input. If you have any further questions about my setup, please ask, I need answers soon. I'm actually not entirely sure if my microphone will work if I purchase a left and right stereo to 3.5mm adapter and plug it in.

I'm mostly just going to talk with friends, and I wanted something better than the mic on the headset. However, I plan to do some music in the near future. How much of a difference would it sound if I used the onboard vs. a separate sound card? And, how much of a price to I have to pay to get a noticeably different sound on a USB sound card?

For music, how expensive of a sound card will I need? What's the cheapest one with the most significant boost in quality?
