Microphone playback quiter than microphone itself

I recently bought a microphone and because I want to use headphones to prevent echo, I decided to enable the microphone playback. However, the microphone seemed to be very quiet in the playback, so I went to the Realtek HD Sound Manager and turned the boost all the way up to +30.0 dB. After recording using that microphone, however, the audio was really loud. After disabling the boost, the audio was, as I expected, good in the recording, but barely hearable in live playback.

Only other thing I would try is the balance slider to see if you mic input is sitting on one channel only(mic input is mono). Try the slider all the way to left and then test record and then try all the way to the right. If that works.... update this thread =) I am curious.

I dragged the "Playback Volume" button to the right and clicked the unmute button on the "Microphone" screen in Realtek HD Audio Manager

That slider will likely adjust for maximum Line level output(usually +2V RMS) so if you are still low after maxing that slider, you will be out of luck unless there is an inline volume control on the headphones. What is the purpose of feeding your mic back into your headphones if you don't mind me asking?

It has multiple reasons. First of, I sing a lot and it's just not it when you're much louder than the music itself, because the volume is low so you can hear yourself. I was also trying to record my gameplay of Five Nights at Freddy's 4, which is a game based on listening. In both examples, the volume should be high, but because of the headphones I don't really hear myself.
