Microphone Stopped Working for no reason

My mic was working fine in the morning and I leave for work, I get back home and everything seems fine til I try to talk, I can hear audio fine through my headphones but my mic wont transmit anything and when I put 'listen to this device' on I just hear static. Ive tried uninstalling my sound drivers, reinstalling new ones. Checked to make sure my mic was the default device. An external sound card along with a new headset but nothing is working. If anyone could help that'd be awesome

Can you please try the suggestion given here?

If that doesn't help, you can try this:

> Type FIND AND FIX AUDIO RECORDING PROBLEMS in the Cortana search box.

> Click Find and fix audio recording problems from the Settings list.

> Follow the on-screen instructions the Recording Audio wizard comes up with and see if this helps.

If the issue persists, please try Running the SFC /SCANNOW Command to fix the issue.
