Microphone trouble please help

Hey can you please help me with my microphone for my computer it isn't picking up any sound. Any ideas?

I just use the microphone in my laptop and it used to work but now it doesn't

try this:
1.Click the speaker icon in your task tray, go to playback devices.
2.Click on your playback device and go to properties.
3.Go across to the enhancements tab.
4.Click 'Disable all enhancements'.
5.Press 'Ok'
