Question Microphone very quiet on Headset in Windows 10

I've got a headset with inbuilt microphone and while the headphones work fine the microphone is so quiet that it can hardly be recognised . I've tried updating the Realtek drivers and running all the usual fixes in Control Panel - Sounds and also the audio troubleshooting app in Settings.
The headset works fine in other computers.
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series.
The headset is a Butfulake GH-2

Pretty sure it's the port where the jack connects. The headset/microphone doesn't appear in Device Manager as it does in other computers..
