Microst 365 Copilot application issue:

When I open the Copilot chat feature within the application, a small window, resembling a login window, starts flashing at regular intervals of approximately 5-10 seconds. When the window flashes, typing also gets interrupted.

The computer is custom-built and not connected to any organization. It is solely for private use. At first, it seemed like the flashing issue was related to installing a WiFi & Bluetooth adapter , Tp-link, in the PCIe slot, but even after removing the adapter, the flashing continues.
The issue occurs only when using the Copilot chat feature in the M365copilot application. It does not happen in, for example, Teams, Word, etc.

What I have I tried:

  • I have reinstalled the application multiple times
  • Windows 11 has been updated
  • Device Manager shows no conflicts
  • I have turned off the firewall and antivirus

Your organization has disabled web search. Copilot responses will not include the most recent information.'

It appears that Web Search needs to be enabled.

You should be able to do so if you have the necessary admin rights via Group Policy.

FYI:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/copilot/microsoft-365/manage-public-web-access

Read the linked tutorial and check the referenced Web toggling.

You can easily find other similar "how-to's" and links.
Thanks.
The difficulty is that these instructions are intended for an organization's IT administrator, not for individual users. For example, the toggle switch shown in the image on this site: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/c...ccess#controls-available-to-manage-web-search does not appear in my M365 Copilot application.

However, it would rather suggest that it is a login issue.
I will upload a new screenshot—hopefully, it will clarify the issue.
It says:

You mentioned that it is a custom built computer and not connected to any organization.

Yet you posted:

"The difficulty is that these instructions are intended for an organization's IT administrator, not for individual users."

Who, as an individual, has full admin rights to that custom built computer?

Of course, I do, but those instructions are meant for IT support personnel who have different features within the organization, and therefore the instructions do not apply to individual users. That's why I included the link. I will add the new screenshot to this post as well.

it says:

Regarding:

"but those instructions are meant for IT support personnel who have different features within the organization, and therefore the instructions do not apply to individual users."

Not fully correct.

From the link I provided:

"If the IT admin enables web search, the Web content toggle is turned on by default. When turned on, the user receives responses grounded in real-time web content. If the IT admin disables web search, the Web content toggle isn't available to the Microsoft 365 Copilot user as part of work chat and web search is disabled.

[Note: the link also includes other details and explanations about the web search options.]

The instructions are for those who have the applicable admin rights to the computer.

Individual users can be given/granted the necessary admin rights without being "IT support personnel" or "IT admin".

Or be granted the necessary admin rights via Group Policy.

It appears that the computer you are using has had web search disabled.

And that you do not have the necessary login account with admin rights to enable web search.

Someone with the required admin rights needs to either: 1) set up the rights for you, or 2) grant you the rights to do so yourself.

Fair enough.

However, I understand the issue to be that you want to make a system change that requires admin rights.

And you do not have those rights...

Or perhaps not even permitted to have those rights granted to you.

Also please note, per Forum Rules, that no one here will assist with some workaround, bypass, hack, etc. to circumvent end user restrictions.

As the administrator of my computer, I have all the necessary rights.
The application previously worked flawlessly, so the issue appeared suddenly. It is likely that some update caused the change.
This is not a web search issue but rather a problem with signing in to the Outlook application, as shown in the most recent image I attached.

I don't quite understand how your thought process works or if you're just trolling, but I haven't asked for anything like this at all????????!!!!!!!

Same difference:

"This is not a web search issue but rather a problem with signing in to the Outlook application, as shown in the most recent image I attached."

My underline.

Again - the problem continues to be some barrier preventing you from the desired access.....

Asked or not - helping with bypassing such barriers is not allowed.

= = = =

That said, I took another look at it all and found the following Learn Microsoft link:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/semantic-index-for-copilot

The link contains a list of supported content types and provides further information regarding site settings.

There is a specific section on SharePoint. I do not know how SharePoint applies to your work environment and/or requirements. Note the various Site Settings.

If you have the required admin rights then you should be able to sign in or make the necessary administrative changes that will permit you to sign into Outlook if signing into Outlook is now the barrier.

Or perhaps the link's information or other key words will help you find another Microsoft link that more specifically addresses Outlook.

I found this link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-outlook-de453583-1e76-48bf-975a-2e9cd2ee16dd

Which raised the New Outlook vs Classic Outlook question. Which Outlook are you using?
