Hi!

I have disabled the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" in the Batteries section of the Device Manager on my Windows 7 computer.

I have done this in order to lower the latency as am working on audio production. I have lost the Batterly level indicator icon but I don't care about that.

I just want to know if this can have any negative effect on the computer or the battery itself. Can it maybe overheat, blow, decrease in capacity or anything bad at all?

Thanx!

Solution
Disabling the ACPI Control Driver won't cause any hardware damage, you just won't be able to set up any battery-related power saving schemes, plus those that were already set up won't be applied. This will cause your battery to run flat quicker that it did previously since Windows will no longer have control over battery consumption.
