[SOLVED] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 system requirements

I am anxious to try out the new MS Flight Simulator 2020 when it is released in mid August.

The developer has made their recommendations for the system requirements - Intel i5 - 8400 / Nvidia GTX 970 with 4GB VRAM / 16 GB RAM / 20 Mbps bandwidth

I am hopeful my existing Dell XPS 15 9560 / Bio 1.19.2 / i7 7700 HQ CPU @ 2.8 Ghz (8 CPUs) / 16GB DDR4 / NVDIA GTX 1050 with 4 GB VRAM / Directx12 / 60 Mbps bandwidth - will meet at least the recommended level.

Unfortuately, I lack the ability to understand the technical aspects when comparing my exact specs relative to that recommended.

CPU wise you are probably OK. The i5-8400 & i7-7700HQ have very similar clock speeds, the difference is the i5-8400 is 6c/6t whereas the i7-7700HQ is 4c/8t. When it comes to the GPU you are pretty under powered compared to the recommended requirements. Here is a benchmark of the desktop 1050Ti vs GTX 970 https://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/2501?vs=2148 Typically desktop GPUs are a step above the laptop version of the same name. That means a desktop 1050Ti would be more equivalent to a laptop 1060.

I am struggling to consider the Xbox version or purchase a gaming desktop. Do you think I can up grade my laptop graphic card?

I've never seen a laptop that allows you to upgrade the GPU or CPU. They offer other specs for you to get, but that's it.
