I have been recently disabled and flying a wheel chair these days, And my question is I had found some of my old Micro Flight Simulator X and Gold Edition, and I want to fly again Can I still find a XP PC to play these sims again or have one built to play them again, and my other question is can I still use the old key codes for these games or will I have to buy new games with new key codes...? Thanks Armadillo Zack

Solution
Those games will play just fine on Windows 7 and newer, just fine. My father-in-law does quite well, especially with FSX. Just install as normal, and yes, you use your original product codes. If there is an issue with the product codes, you may have to go through a manual activation process. That is easy as well.

Good luck!

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly...! I'm not really a PC savvy person but, If I'm on here it's because, I'm up against a wall and have no clue... But I will have my kids run down a PC for me to play, and let ya know how it goes.... Thanks again...!

I'd also like to add that as a long time Microsoft Flight Simmer since FS95, it only runs on two cores so you do not need a high end quad-core CPU. So if you are having a PC built or buy one for flight simming, the faster the CPU speed in GHz means the better performance you will get. I would recommend 4GHz a a CPU speed for the smoothest flying experience possible. FSX is not graphics card dependent, so you do not need a very expensive graphics card. A mid-range one will do fine.

Also, I would highly recommend buying and installing an aftermarket weather generator since FSX stopped supporting its built-in real time global weather several years ago. I use REX cloud textures with Active Sky Next weather generator. If you want real IFR flying experience in realistic looking real-time world weather, that will do it. There are also some outstanding aftermarket aircraft you can buy that are more complex and realistic than the default FSX aircraft. There are several online stores that sell it (FSPilotshop and FlightSimStore are the two I use). Have fun!

Wow Thanks ...! I am so glad my son told me about this site...! He did a lot of the research for me.. I will make sure I add that as that was one of my favorite aspect of the sim... You see I live in south Fla. and not to far from the airport so I always used in free flight the strip here for my home or starting place before flight, so when talking off and having actual weather conditions brings the more realism to the sim for me....! I am going to be one happy man again as soon as I can start using that sim program again...!

Hi I just wanted to say I appreciate the help I have gotten here, and wanted to give you all an update seeing how helpful you all were... Well I have gotten a new computer from my kids, It's an HP All-in-one, Pavilion, w/ Windows 10, and Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 2.80 GHz., 12 GB Ram, 64-bit operating system x64 Based processor, Touch Support w/10 Touch Points.. I don't know if this is a great computer or not as I said I am not a computer savvy person, But it seems to work fine w/ the games I had mentioned, and I am happy to say I can stil fly those games pretty darn well, and have all ready filled the pilots reward page with all sorts of credits... Again Thank you, and I appreciate all your help, and I wanted you to know you helped an old man down on his luck feel very happy again that he can still do something that he enjoys... COL Geek, and 10tacle, thanks...!
