For the record, fish were laying eggs before dinosaurs even existed. In fact, fish were laying eggs before they even evolved jawbones. And insects, were the first land creatures to lay eggs...since they were the first land creatures.

Flight sims back in the day were my favorite games.

IMO I think the market was largely ruined when the games became so damn complicated you had to be an actual fracking pilot to play one.

Go back to some sort of intuitive system without over complicating things and this genre will thrive again. (and for everyone reading this dont start pointing out things like HAWX, they are fine but it would be nice to have a middle ground in between arcade and over the top ultra realistic you need to be a pilot to play).

One thing I loved about Microsoft Flight Sim - complete multi monitor support.
Instead of a single FOV with stretching, each monitor could have its own FOV. At 48:9 wide resolutions, FOV is absolutely horrible, and turned me off triple monitor more than dealing with bezels.

I would love a modern online FPS were I could do that.

I played msfs,it was about as fun as watching paint dry, want to tickle my fancy then give me freelancer 2,and starlancer 2. No mechwarrior though,it sucked after 3.

[citation][nom]huron[/nom]I always wondered what happened to flight simulators...I love FPS as much as the next person, but there were some great simulator games - still would love to see a remake of X-Wing or TIE fighter with similar/same gameplay, but better graphics.[/citation]

I would too, or perhaps an extension on the Freespace line. (The guys who made Freespace are still around, but the company has been pretty much gutted. Perhaps working with another publisher?) I miss space flight combat sims. I loaded up the original Freespace over the weekend, but it doesn't play well with Windows 7 and I can't turn up the details. The game thinks I have 0MB of memory available, when I have 6GB.

[citation][nom]skykaptain[/nom]Where's my combat flight sim? I want to have my dogfights with P-51's with FSX graphics, or even better, make it with F-22's instead.[/citation]
Oh, how I miss the good old days of Combat Flight Simulator 2. For me, there's nothing like looking out your cockpit window and seeing your plane filled with bullet holes as you struggle to keep control of it. Every little part had a damage profile unlike today's 'flight simulator games' like Ace Combat, where your plane just blows up when it reaches 100% damage. You actually had to manage fuel, hope your pilot didn't get shot, and try to keep it in the air. I'll never forget the red string of messages that came up every time someone took a pass at you, saying "Your <part here> has been damaged". I mean, it had everything, down to the landing gear. Heck, I remember getting a message that said "Your pilot is on fire". Oh, the good old days.

YES!!!!! One of only two video games I ever bought, Links was the other, though if I could find the Carnival arcade game I would get it.

Lets see, with 4 24" monitors (two front one on each "side" that should give me a 180 degree field of view?

I totally agree. FSX is still fun to play today, but X-Wing vs TIE Fighter was an awesome game as well. Bring back both of those with updated graphics and we would be set.

As for the Chicken vs. Egg... easy.
Just took a quick look into the Bible (even Jesus was wondering what I was up to...).
Page one...creation... day 5 Good made Fish and Birds, Day 6 Land Animals and Humans (as if there is much of a difference). Nothing about making Eggs in there.
so the Chicken wins 🙂

wings of prey will alway eclipse anything out there its almost too relaistic

Here's the thing with Flight Simulators... and Microsoft, I hope you're listening:

Its all good and well to learn to fly a plane, but I would like to do more than that, fly missions, like helicopter missions to drop payload somewhere...dogfights in the sky (WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, and more current aircraft)...make Flying exciting! Wouldn't you love it to know that once you get your wings (learn to fly) you could launch yourself in combat, etc?
