Hello, I'm having trouble with my Intellimouse Optical. It just dies
at times (no lights on mouse visible nor can move pointer with mouse).
It stays that way till I reboot the PC which its dead on (if I switch
the KVM to the other PC it works OK). I have it hooked up to a 2-Port
KVM Switch. At first I thought it might be the KVM but I hooked the
USB of the mouse directly into the PC and it still died on me. Yet on
the other PC machine it works flawlessly! So is it a Motherboard
issue,software conflict, IRQ issue?
I could really use some pointers to find the root problem. The mouse
is only 6 months old. I'd hate to forsake Microsoft Products but this
is the second MS mouse that has issues. the first one the optical went
DEAD period. I hope MS can assure me it stands behind their hardware
products!
TIA!

On USB ports, in Device Manager, you can tell Windows whether or not yo
allow it to "power down" the USB port. This should be set as "No" or OFF
for the USB Mouse port.
