Microsoft Office 2000 and Windows 7 compatibility

Hi,
My question concerns Microsoft Office 2000 and Windows 7 compatibility. Windows 7 isn’t compatible with Office 2000. In a new system build with Windows 7, would a second operating system (Windows XP) on a separate partition or disc drive get around the compatibility issue?

Solution
You could set up Windows XP Mode instead, provided you have a copy of Windows 7 Professional or higher. No need for a separate partition and OS install...

Hi,
My first impression was to use 64 bit Windows 7 Home Edition. I'm trying to keep costs down on this build. I will have to investigate using "Windows XP mode" in the Professional version, the Ultimate is too expensive for the budget. Thanks.

Office 2000 works perfectly with Windows 7 64. I have Office 2000 Small Business Edition installed on five Windows 7 machines currently. The installations are complete with SP's 1,2 and 3 and dozens of add ons and security updates.

Hi,
That is confusing. My only source on this issue was the Microsoft Windows 7 web site. I really like Office 2000 and don't see any reason to replace it, if I don't have to. Could it be that Microsoft just wants the public to buy another Microsoft product? :sarcastic:
Anyone else running Office 2000 with Windows 7 Home edition?

I suspect they like to say it's NOT compatible is because they'd love for you to believe it's not compatible so you buy Office 2007. It works...don't believe what they tell you on their site.
