Microsoft office cache

I've been looking through my files with WinDirStat. I noticed that my Office Files cache is 4.2GB and I'm wondering why that is necessary. Can I just delete it and let word rebuild it when I open it as I use it?

Perfect thanks a lot! I just went into the upload center settings and deleted the cache and reduced the # of days to keep files in the cache to 2 for anyone that is reading this with a similar problem.
