The installed Office application?I it possible to transfer the files for Microsoft office from an old O/S program disk to a new disk?
I rebuilt my desktop computer (all new parts including M2 SSD drive for O/S). I bought a copy of MS Office Pro 2013 years ago and it works fine. They want $495 for the new version. I spent an hour with a MS rep and she finally gave up saying I needed to find the old email address/PW for the MS account I used when I originally downloaded the SW. I guess I should have written down that account info but I didn't. I was able to download the SW on the new O/S drive but I can't activate it even though I have the product code. So I am thinking since I have the old SSD drive in the new desktop maybe there is a way to transfer the files that make it work (Maybe it will need some registry stuff also. Anyway, it may not be possible but I reall hate to spend money on something I thought I could keep using. The installed Office application?
Please give us the backstory on this.
Why?
Different OS's?
Same system or different system?
I just tried one of the old email addresses I used and asked for a password reset and then I found the old account and was able to reinstall.
