[SOLVED] Microsoft Outlook w/o downloading past emails.

Hi all,

I have bought a new PC and want set up Outlook email on it for my business emails. Is there any way to make sure that the emails already in my inbox don't get downloaded? I want to use Outlook for my company emails on this new PC but don't want to download 7 years worth of emails. I already have my laptop for that for that.

How is Outlook configured on the laptop?
Are you on a corporate Exchange connection or POP/IMAP?

Not sure of the difference. I have an email account with my webhost IONOS (1and1). Does that help? I believe it is IMAP, but not sure.

If can make a big difference. You need to know this in order to configure the new client. Look at your existing configuration or call your provider. You cannot proceed without this information.

Additionally, this is for work email, correct?
Then that would be the only account you configure on it.

And you probably DO want the whole corpus of emails on this system.
Shouldn't take that long.

If you're talking about Microsoft Outlook (part of MS Office / Microsoft 365), then you want to create a separate profile for your work email, and choose the profile everytime you start Outlook. For "other" Outlook which is standard on Windows 10, I'd link personal email accounts into one group, and leave work email alone.
