Microsoft register server has stopped working?

Hey everyone,

This is on one of my computers running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. It's only started happening recently (past 2 days), whenever I try to open Mozilla Firefox I get "Microsoft(C) Register Server has stopped working". The details show

that the event name is "BEX",
app name is "regsvr32.exe",
module name is "msvcr100.dll",
exception offset is "8a3f6",
exception code is c0000417.

I've tried turning off DEP for regsvr32.exe but still no change. Internet Explorer doesn't work either, when I try to open it nothing happens. Someone help please??

Thanks for the reply, I ran SFC and it came back clean. I did not have system restore enabled on this machine but I tried a couple of different things and this is what seems to work: Clear the local temp directory and reboot or logoff/logon. This is rather strange so does anyone know what's going on with this? I have to do it every time I reboot for Firefox or IE to work again.

Thanks for the help! Turns out the issue was some virus/malware which was picked up and removed by Malwarebytes.
