[SOLVED] Microsoft windows search indexer high cpu usage

Hi, so whenever i open the pc, the CPU produced high noise, a quick solution is to open the task manager where the Microsoft windows search indexer is taking 80-90% of CPU but then after couple of seconds it disappaers. tried many online solutions ( https://windowsreport.com/fix-search-indexer-high-cpu/ , https://windows101tricks.com/windows-10-search-indexer-high-cpu-usage/ ) but none worked.

have you just left pc idling for a few hours and let the indexer finish whatever its trying to do?

that could fix it

Have you got an ssd or hdd? how full is PC?

yeah tried that overnight but it just keeps going on and on

so you tried all of these? Cause I would think number 5 should have stopped it. I wouldn't use 3rd party apps to fix problems so ignore 1. - https://windowsreport.com/fix-search-indexer-high-cpu/

yes number 4 i coudnt change it, it was grayed out and number 5 I did not find the windows search box

Just for yuks.
Use file explorer and go to each disk/properties.
Untick allow file indexing.....test

if you turn off indexing on every drive, off course its going to reduce usage. that was sort of choice number 5 in one of the links he tried. It seems rebuilding index was all he needed.

i assume you testing to see if its a particular drive

Perhaps that means it's fixed.
