Microsoft won't accept my serial....

Last year I bought W8 Pro and I installed it over W7. When I sold my pc I removed W8 Pro and I put back on W7. I just completed to build my new pc but when I installed W8Pro Microsoft won't accept my serial....What is going on?

Specifically, what happened? What message did it give you?

You'll probably have to go through the phone robot to activate. I had to do that with a Win8 reinstall. Pretty painless.

In what way does it not accept your serial code? Does it say it's invalid? Try phone registration, it should solve your issue.


Press the Windows + R to open the Run dialog, type slui.exe 4, press Enter, and go to step 7 below.

Click on the drop down menu, select your location.

Call the toll free activation phone number.

Enter the ID numbers on your phone keypad when asked to do so over the phone.
NOTE: These numbers are generated by your PC and provide information about your product key.

Enter the confirmation ID numbers given to you over the phone into the "Windows Activation" wizard.

When finished, click/tap on Activate.

If activation was successful, then you are done.

If activation failed, then you will be told that activation cannot proceed. DO NOT hang up. Wait to be automatically transferred to a Microsoft Activation Team operator that will go through these steps again to help you activate your copy of Window 8.

Stupid me wrong cd with wrong serial. I installed W8 Pro but I was trying to activate it with the serial of W8Pro update. Thanks
