i have saved some documents i created on works processor in my documents
folder, which i then backed up on a floppy and took to library to print of (my
printer ran out of ink)however i could not open these files as they use
microsoft office word. Is there a way to open them without having to change
them all over to word

Save them as RTF or install the works convertor at the library.

If the library computer has Word installed then pop the floppy into the
drive and go to File->Open->change File type to .wps and see if you can open
the files that way.
