News Microsoft's 'We're faster than a Mac' ad claims top Copilot+ PCs are up to 58% faster than Apple's last-gen M3 MacBook Air

I still don't want anything "Copilot+"
The brand is an affront to everything I stand for.
I want Microsoft to stop stealing people's Monday-to-Friday source code and artwork.

I would buy a computer that respects people's work and does not collude in mass-plagiarism.
I respect the concern, but most people just want a fast, reliable laptop that runs the apps they need. The average buyer isn’t thinking about Copilot+ as some grand ethical battleground—they just want to know if it opens Photoshop and lasts all day on a charge. Maybe not even Photoshop and just email and web browsing.

So Microsoft is saying their PC is faster the Apples PC at AI stuff we don't want.
To be fair, AI acceleration is quickly becoming table stakes whether for image editing, transcriptions, or local assistants. Apple’s pushing ‘Apple Intelligence’ too, though the rollout’s been shaky. I’d rather have the horsepower and not need it than get left behind when apps start relying on it.

We're faster than a Mac!*

*A year+ old Mac, and not in every metric, and not in graphics, and you definitely have to pay more for a Surface than another brand with the same specs, and don't expect everything to work on Windows 11 on ARM...
Fair points—benchmark cherry-picking is classic marketing. But let’s be real: ARM on Windows is just now hitting a turning point. Macs went through similar growing pains when they first moved away from Intel too, and now look where they are. Copilot+ PCs might not be perfect today, but they’re laying the groundwork for a big shift in the Windows ecosystem.

Why do companies continue to try to play these games? Makes me not want to buy any of their products.

Honestly, Microsoft’s Surface lineup isn’t even close to outselling Macs. Apple’s Mac sales dominate premium laptops globally, while Surface remains a niche player. It’s one thing to claim speed in selective benchmarks, but market reality tells a different story; people keep choosing Macs for their reliability, ecosystem, and overall performance.

"our top of the line product is (specifically multicore benchmark) better than the competitors last generation product...but probably not the top of the line last gen product!"
Yep, it’s the ‘better than last year’s mid-tier model’ play — a favorite move to sound impressive without having to beat the real flagship. Classic tech marketing 101

Microsoft are just being silly with this given that Linux is faster than Windows and Linux is faster than MacOS too.

Further, Microsoft really isn't losing marketshare to Mac these days. Mac has kind of plateaued at around 15 or so percent, maxing out at around 20%. What Apple has, that's what they have, Microsoft has taken some back and that was before CoPilot.

It's Linux where all the steady growth is at. Especially as Kill 10 looms this October and the only thing remaining for Microsoft's customers is 11 Advertising Edition which everybody hates. Zotac is rumored to be out there prepping yet another handheld gaming PC with some custom Linux on it meanwhile Nero is out there fiddling past Redmond like its 1993. The whole Mac vs PC thing is long dead, what are you guys doing letting the geriatrics run the marketing department???

Recall is a sop to its business customers; what it is that you and other home users want, well oh well. You get what MS is giving and you're not paying the big time licensing fees anyways.

The main reason for Recall is the increase of Work-From-Home people. Managers and senior managers especially really distrust people working from home.(You ever see some of Jamie Dimon's rants about WFH?) So an AI program built to take snapshots, look at those snapshots, and report simple things like "this screen hasn't changed in 45 minutes" to dirty stuff on company time is exactly what will sell more business computers and if nothing else, sell more Windows licenses where the computers meet spec.

Recall should properly be called snitch. That's its true function. Recall is there to snitch on people working from home.

Microsoft can claim everything... NO ones care... Some one here have look the price of repair one microsoft device ?
it's worse than try repair an apple device... Only reason to use something from microsoft it's for compatibility reasons, But the time is running out.
