Or so I keep telling my roommate. In my dorm room, he has a microwave about a foot and a half from his 19" CRT monitor. Whenever we use the microwave, the picture on his monitor jiggles. Now I know this is due to leaked microwaves, but is there any safety hazard? I just don't want any fires or exploding monitors in my dorm room. Any advice would be great, thanks!

The microwave energy is contained within the oven. The image distortion on your CRT is just magnetic interference emanating from the oven's power supply, which draws nearly 1200 watts during operation.
