Hi, i'm sorry if this question came up before, but i need an urgent help. im going to buy a new graphics card, mainly for gamingm but i'm not an ultimate gamer i want fast but at the same valuale and most importantly not loud. i came accross MSI 5900 xt heard good things about it, and 9600xt as well its good. but i just need a second opinion to be sure. im not rich so want to make a right decision. which one you guys prefer?some games i play are, max payne 2, raven shield, generals and vice city..as well i just noticed 9800 pro prices dropped dramatically should i splash a little bit more and buy that?

I havent seen a recent price drop in the real 256bit 9800pros. They seem to be about where they have been for awhile now. The one that is starting to rear its ugly discount head at newegg and other retailers is the 128 bit variety. Not sure how that card performs but it seems to be criminally misnamed, because a 9800 non pro would surely outperform that "pro" card.

Whats your budget?

right now 150-175 will get ya the 5900xt and 200 will get ya the ATi 9800 pro 128 mb

The 9800 is well worth the extra dinero
Wouldn't go any lower then either of these cards

Makes sense to me. The real 9800 pro's with 256-bit mem is still in the $200-$210 range at best, while the newly released crippled versions like This Saphire have 128-bit mem and have to be slowler than the R9800 pro's we all know and love. I think he was just stating if you saw R9800 Pro's appearring around $175, be careful as they are most likely the crippled 128 bit ones. The real ones are still the same price as a month or so ago.

Yeah, it's a newly created twist. One we didn't need considering just how many varieties of cards are out there now. I'd assume a lot of folks will get suckered into buying this 128-bit R9800 pro not knowing it's a crippled one. :frown:
