Hey there, I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop and I'd like some advice and input. Something under $1,000 but I don't want to buy cheap either. Also if I can run windows 7 on it (10 has left a seriously bad taste in my mouth and I know nvidia drivers have issues with it unless that's changed recently) that would be ideal. I'm mostly looking for a few options I can narrow down and eventually decide on once I have enough money. Specs are negotiable at this point as I want to narrow down my choices but I will be buying an external drive for extra space. Thank y'all so much in advance.

Windows 7 is basically just a bad idea, only two months before you lose security updates.

Hmm, a little above budget, but pretty decent specs:

$1150 i7-9750H + RTX2060 + 144hz screen

$850 i7-9750H + GTX1650

$900 i5-9300H + GTX1660Ti + 120hz panel
https://www.walmart.com/ip/dealsofa...ickid=1AKRG60jTxyOWrnwUx0Mo3cgUknw6pVK0R8I0I0

Basically the same as the Amazon one, but more expensive at $1000, 512GB drive though:

Also coming up on Black Friday / Cyber Monday so these will probably disappear and be replaced with all the hardware that isn't selling...

Thanks for the info, I'll take a look through these but I'm still concerned about running the nvidia drivers on Windows 10

If you are talking about general compatibility with Windows, I can't say I have experienced muc in the way of issues in the last several years. There was one Windows update that broke all my 3D applications for a bit, but again, quickly fixed, and it was easy enough to roll back in the meantime.

Due to the recent security vulnerabilities released? They'll get patched soon enough, especially when they are publicly known. Pretty much no software safe from some vulnerability, just different levels of access required to take advantage of them.

Every company goofs some time. Right now I believe there is a lot of complaints against the PC release of Read Dead Redemption 2, basically just not working with some GPUs. I'm sure they had a marketing deadline to meet, and just pushed whatever they had out to the users. (They really need to figure out better ways to do that, nothing is ever on time)
