We are looking to buy a printer to print on plastic MiFare Magnetic ID Cards & I'd appreciate recommendations.

Ideally it would be colour, laser and of sufficient quality to print a photograph, without us breaking the bank! I have no idea what specifically to look for so grateful for any guidance you can offer.

Cheers

ID card printers tend to be dye-sublimation printers, rather than laser or inkjet, as that technology is capable of printing directly onto plastic.

Zebra and Datacard are the best-known brands. They're not cheap - they start at about £500 in the UK, so probably around that figure in Euros or US Dollars.

You can get inkjet printable MiFare cards, though, so if you can find an inkjet printer that can handle the cards, you could go that way (but they probably wouldn't be waterproof). A quick search reveals that you can get a replacement media tray for some Canon printers that are capable of printing CDs/DVDs which will allow them to print ID cards instead.
