Hey everyone,

I upgraded to an SSD last night. Boots fine, programs all working nicely. However, when I try to play my games, they start then the screen goes black, the motherboard beeps once, and I have to manually shut down my system and restart it in order to get my video back...

A side note: when I was installing my SSD, I noticed that my video card was sagging (probably due to it's size in comparison to my Micro ATX MB) so I leveled it with a piece of a hard plastic bottle that I cut down to size. I made sure that it still had a good connection with the MB. Does anyone have any ideas? It was late last night so I didn't have time to test all of my games, but I tested Elder Scrolls Online, and Assassin's Creed IV. Both games worked perfectly before. Thank you in advance!

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II
Case: Inwin MANA134 ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply: Ultra 750W ATX
Optical Drive: LG UH12NS29 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32/64-bit)

FIXED!!!

I re-installed a couple of games, no change. I disconnected my HDD and all of my external drives to see if It was my PSU being overburdened, no change. I had a hunch to remove the bottle that I placed to level my GPU, and that was it... My GPU must have been accustomed to sagging and over time, it probably warped the MB connection. I plan on upgrading my MB soon so that's not that big of a deal. Thank you for all of your suggestions!

Why was the GPU sagging? Do you not have it screwed in good to the side of your case?

Could be that your Ultra psu could not take 1 more thing being plugged into it so it does not have enough power for your GPU anymore. Ultra is a not a very quality brand of psu, and that 750w sticker on the side is about as accurate as a new $80 car amp being sold out of a van that claims it outputs 1600w

Yeah, it's screwed in nice and tight. It's a long and heavy card and it was only the unconnected end that was sagging.

Yeah, the PSU came with my system when I bought it. I'll try disconnecting my HDD and see if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I just cloned everything to the SSD from the HDD. I'll try reinstalling a few games when I get home and see if that helps. Thank you!

Probably close to 100 GB. I'm at work right now, otherwise I'd give you a more accurate number.

Close enough.
I'd just try reinstalling the affected games.
