Hello guuyyss :D

I have a confession to make. Despite owning a gaming PC since mid 2013 and despite learning how to put together a PC from top to bottom and helping other people with their PCs, I don't have an SSD.

I know.

Now I want to take the leap so pitchforks away please. I'd be looking to buy a 500GB SSD for my OS, programs and one or two games only which is more than enough BUT I want to keep the contents of my HDD intact. I want to migrate it in such a way that I can have everything the way it was and still have the best speeds possible on the SSD.

I've had people tell me to clean install my OS etc. but is there a way to do this without losing my files and programs and still get optimal speeds from the SSD?

PS: I'm looking at a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB. I've heard they're fast, reliable and reasonably priced. Any better brands out there? Heard some good things about Crucial products too.

Thanks in advance guys :D

Solution
Samsung's come with a data migration software that will copy your HDD to SSD. very simple.

If you have a desktop then just plug both in for data and power, if this is a lapotp then you will need USB->SATA adapter to copy the HDD to the SSD
