I have two HDDs, one is green (old one) and the new one is blue.

I want to migrate Windows10 from the old green drive to the new blue drive, the current position of windows is "c" and I want to move it to the other hard drive, I created a new partition called "z" as a try but I failed to understand how to move, so here is my request:

1. How to migrate the OS to the new drive of the new hard drive?
2. Is it possible to the name the other drive to "c" because "z" looks confusing?

Thank you :)

IF your new HD is equal to or larger than the old one you have no issues. Google cloning software and take your pick. After reformatting the new drive and creating a recovery partition.

If you are attempting to move to a smaller drive you should consider a fresh install of Windows or paying for software that will migrate your old data onto any drive it will fit on. This is different than free and easy to use cloning software.

Well, the new blue drive has some data that I can't swipe, so I am looking for an option to move the windows from "C" in the old one to "Z" in the new one, if this thing is complicated, what about installing a new fresh install on "z" directly, however I didn't give it a try because I don't know if I will encounter issues or not like booting, duplicate and those stuff.

Hi

What size are green and blue disks?

How much data on blue disk?

I would recomend backing up data on blue disk then cloning green to blue then enlarging partition on blue or adding additional partition on blue
(Assuming blue is bigger than green)

If green is bigger than 2 TB it probably has gpt partitioning and extra hidden partitions
Even if old style mbr partitions there will be at least one hidden partition

So you need software which can migrate windows for you with all partitions
Note once green migrated to blue windows will complain that it cant have 2 disks with same signature

If reason for migration is green has bad sectors and gives windows or smart error messages ignore what i just said and ask for advice again

Swipe? A clean install on Z is going to erase any and everything on it. If you are unable to move said data from Z to C for safe keeping this is more about being complicated and less about Windows 7. Well beyond switching the boot order or moving SATA cords on the motherboard so your BIOS knows to boot into Z.

The link offered up while I was typing my initial reply solved your undeveloped equation. Introducing a string of unrelated variables completely changes that. Not sure either of us can help if you don't understand the answer well enough to implement it.
