Migrating to new laptop

I had a HP 240G3 laptop working fine on Win 10. I have migrated to a new laptop. to copy the old files- the hdd from old laptop has been taken out and connected to an external drive - the new laptop recognizes the external casing but unable to recognize the old HDD. WHat should i do. ?

One way would be to put the HDD back in the old laptop and transfer via USB stick.
