Migrating to SSD from HDD. Will restoring backup to my HDD afterwards restore my files?

Hi guys.

I'm about to start the cloning of my current HDD onto a new SSD. I want to keep all my files on my HDD and run Windows on my SSD. Last night I backed up my HDD onto an ext HDD using the windows recommended backup. If I continue with the cloning (it'll delete all my media because the size is much smaller) will I be able to restore it back on to the HDD using the backup I made afterwards? The cloning process will wipe my HDD.

Thanks for any help

The cloning process should not delete anything from the HDD during the process.
With some applications you can choose to exclude some media files, but they don't delete.

Please give us a clearer step by step of exactly what you're trying to do, and the desired end state.

I decided I'd install a fresh copy of windows on to my SSD. Now im having this issue. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3482399/working-attempted-ssd-install.html
