Hello,
I have a Win 10(outdated by almost 1.5 years) on a Samsung SSD 840EVO 250(SATA) that I would like to migrate using
Samsung Magician to a brand new Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2. The 840 EVO is going to be used in a completely new system build. Along with the new Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2. This will become the "new boot drive"
The question is being that the Samsung SSD 840EVO 250(SATA) with Win 10 OS is going to need a lot of updates because it's from a PC that hasn't been used in about 1.5 years should I update it first with all the new updates then migrate it to
the new Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 ? Or should I not connect the PC to the internet so it doesn't try to install the updates, then do the migration using Sam Migration from the outdated Win10 on the Samsung SSD 840EVO 250(SATA) to the new Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 ?
Also since the Samsung SSD 840EVO 250(SATA) is being put in a "new build PC" will Window 10 balk and not let me do the install(boot up) since it will know the drive is being put in a different "new build computer"?

I hope I wrote this so it does not sound overly complicated as to what I'm trying to accomplish here.

Many thanks to who wants to tackle this one :)

Matt

Solution
Update windows on 840 evo first;
then clone to 970 evo;
remove 840 evo, boot form 970 evo, check if everything boots properly;
put 840 evo in new pc, clean it and install windows on it.

Sounds good!
I should be getting the rest of my parts tomorrow to complete the new build so I can do your suggestion.
I will let you know the outcome.

Many thanks and I hope all is well.
