Solution
What operating system, what music player, and what kind of mic (usb or traditional audio plug)? Also are you using onboard sound ports or a sound card? While I assume so, but just to be clear; are you able to use the mic when not playing music?

thank you for getting back to me,
i have hp pavilion a6720y pc, amf phenom x4/9550 quad-core processor, 64 bit vista

idownloaded audicity sound recorder,the mike is radioshake, the mike works but the sound is very low, when i add music from windows media player,all you here is the music the mike plugs in the front our you can plug it in the back,
hope this helps
