Mikrotik RouterOS in VirtualBox or VMware

Can I Install Mikrotik Router OS in VMware or VirtualBox on Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller, rather than on another machine ? will it work? actually I want to manage bandwidth and web filtering in my network.

You can try it, for sure, How it will perform depends on the load you place. And you will need to provide several network interfaces to that VM.

That page also links to VMDK files, so I suppose this is supported configuration.

"Mikrotik Router OS" does not have "web filter" feature. You can try "WFilter NG firewall", it has powerful content filtering and bandwidth control features with a 50-user free license. Here is a pre-built vmdk for vmware work statation and certain guide: http://wiki.wfilterros.com/VMWare_Image

One LAN card is built-in on motherboard of this machine on which i m using windows server 2012 r2 domain controller so do i need to add another LAN card in this machine to implement this setup to make it work like Firewall i mean Lancard-1 = LAN and Lancard-2 WAN

One network card is enough for virtual gateway deployment. If you want to build a physical firewall, you need two network cards.
