just to see if I've overlooked anything:

Xilence PSU 400W 120mm fan
Msi z77A-G45
Intel i5-3350P
Corsair Vengeance 2x4 1600
Msi N660 2GD5
Seagate HDD 500GB 7200RPM 16MB

thanks in advance guys.

If this is for gaming, change the CPU to an fx6300 and the motherboard to an am3+ 970 chipset board. Then used the saved money to get a better GPU.

Also, that PSU is trash. You NEED a 500w unit from Corsair, Antec, XFX, Seasonic.

that's precisely what I had in mind before asking a couple of people for advice.

bump - I have two left hands and the only people I know who can put this together without asking loads of money for it are unwilling to work with amd components because stuff can go wrong. guess I'll have to go intel then.

I won't be oc'ing so I might as well go with an h77. the aforementioned people called me a dumbass for considering asrock (I'd be getting the pro4/mvp), telling me it might not even boot up. what do you guys think?

I'm sorry, I don't believe this. Installing an AMD CPU is THE SAME as installing an Intel one. SAME process. ASRock is also a VERY good company. You NEED to stop listening to those people. They are very uneducated and uninformed.

hm. thanks for the reassurance. they're qualified though, so I'm not sure where they're getting this from. now I'll just have to find someone to build it for me... in which case I might as well go back to amd.
