So I recently started playing Minecraft again. I'm still on 1.7.10 and also started installing mods. They're the most basic mods though so I don't know if that's the problem. I have GLSL Shaders, OptiFine, and Too Many Items installed as well as a couple texture packs. I run Riva Statistics tuner to see what my system is doing while I game and after a few minutes of game play, the GPU core clock drops from around 1200 down to around 700 or even sometimes down to 380 MHz. As you can imagine, running shaders with a core clock of 380 is not enjoyable at all. I can't even bring it back up with MSI Afterburner, it needs a system restart to correct. It's so bad, I'm running Crysis 3 at 4k at over triple the framerate and that isn't great either. It isn't an unstable GPU either because the GPU that's used for Minecraft is stable at 1333 MHz on the core and 3506 MHz on the RAM everywhere else. Thanks.
System specs:
CPU: I7 5775c @4.2 GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97-SLI
Memory: 16 GB Kingston Hyper X
Graphics Cards: 2x GTX 680
Things I've tried:
1. Uninstalling and reinstalling graphics drivers
2. Reinstalling Java
3. Reinstalling Minecraft
4. fboEnable: false
5. Downclocking the GPU
6. Adding GPU voltage
7. Setting a frame cap (so the GPU isn't pinned at 100% load)
