I know it's a silly question to ask in these forums but I'm actually in doubt with the GTX 980 ti performing in Minecraft (with shaders of course). I've seen the GTX 970 outperform the 980 ti in this game with the same processor (intel i7-4790k), what's up with that? I've seen videos in which the 970 gets around 100 fps and the 980 ti get about 60-70 fps.
Can anybody explain this to me why it is, feel free to correct me in the harshest way you want, I know I will regret asking this.

(Yes, I play other games besides Minecraft, is just this game is beautiful with shaders)(AND playing at 1440p...probably at 4k in the future)

LOL. You don't need either of these cards for Minecraft. I ran minecraft loadeded with shaders and texture packs on a cheap, FX-6300, and cheap R9 270. 60fps + at all times.

So yea, you are grossly over estimating the power you need. An R9 380 or GTX 960 will be overkill for what you need, even. Those are $200 cards. Cheers.

oh...i forgot to say that I'm playing on a 1440p resolution monitor and will possibly play at 4k in a near future. (must update thread)

Either card will handle 1440p minecraft just fine. Make sure you get the 4GB model, and a decent amount of system memory(atleast 8gb). Some of those texture packs can hog up a lot of memory, not to mention 1440p already requires more vram. Cheers.

My friend got an i5-6600K and an R9 380
I sent it to my teacher the pic that my friend sent me( the parts)
My teacher and I only facepalmed becuz my friend was only playing Minecraft
