Minecraft java version not responding

I have paid for minecraft java version today, my son is trying to start to play Minecraft but keeps getting the not responding message, we have tried uninstalling and starting again but the same happens. Any advice please

So, Java should be self-contained in the newer versions of MineCraft, however, I would still strongly recommend going to the Java website. Go to the ALL DOWNLOADS section, and download the Java as appropriate. Install.

If you still get freezing issues, you may need to tweak the amount of memory allocated to the game. Let me know, and I can get you the command line params and instructions on how to do this.

Hi thank you for answering, yes java installed and I checked for updates.
It's when we press play it is loading but then says not responding

System specs? Please list them here. Is it modded? And what version of Java are you running it with? A specific version number, please.

I am not very computer savvy but I think these are the specs..
RAM 8GB
Native resolution 1920 x 1080
Graphic card AMD ATI
HARD DRIVE 1TB

Please make sure to answer all questions, if you can.

1. At what point does it start freezing up? Can he get into the launcher?
2. Is the game modded at all?
3. Please type "cmd" in the start menu. Select it, and type: java -version and please tell me what it says there. You can highlight text in command prompt like normal, and to copy it you need to go to the title-bar, right-click, and select edit->copy.
