Hi,
So I recently finished building my pc but I'm finding playing minecraft quite laggy(singleplayer and multiplayer). It says 199 fps at the top and it was still stuttering so I turned on Vsync which brought it down to a steadyish 60fps. So anyway, without Vsync it was often 199fps and then just walking round sometimes took it down to about 180. (still stuttering) Anyway, after I turned Vsync on it would often be at 60fps and then sometimes randomly drop down to 30. I tried blowing up some TNT: 2 blocks high and about 5 m by 5m and it went super stuttery and fps went down to 7fps. This was on low settings as well. I watched someone else blow up tnt with this card about the same amount and fps only dropped by a bit but not a lot. I have also noticed that I can't seem to play youtube videos in 4K? It is also very stuttery there as well even though my connection is rock solid, 8 ping, 158Mb down and the loading bar is always far ahead so it's not my connection. Surely my card should be able to handle a 4k video? These problems seem related... I have all the latest drivers and everything so it's not that. Could it be my CPU overheating as when playing minecraft with no other programs open sometimes the temps go up to 68 degrees C? I'm using the stock cooling fan but I might not have installed it in correctly(it's my first custom pc)
Here are specs:
Intel Core i5 4670K-Using supplied heatsink and fan.
Asus-Z87K
Crucial Ballistx 8GB
Asus Nvidia GTX 760
WD RED 1TB
Samsung EVO 840 128GB
Some stupid dvd thingy
Some sound card
Corsair CX500
Benq XL2411Z Gaming monitor
What is going on?
Any suggestions? Surely my card should be able to handle a youtube video in 4k and play minecraft without stuttering. Could it be CPU overheating due to being installed incorrectly causing this?
...Thanks!
Ben

Solution
"Some stupid dvd thingy"? Really?

Minecraft should fly smooth as butter with that rig. Try running CCLeaner and do the Clean and Registry sections both. You may have software conflicts or registry errors causing issues. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Next run Malwarebytes to be sure some piece of malware isn't hogging all your clock cycles. https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Also, check to see how much crap you have running at startup, how much is running in the background when Win boots. Check your tray. If it is full of apps, disable as many of them as possible. You can always start them manually from the start menu. Everything running in the background is stealing clock cycles and resources.

And if you haven't for awhile...

Not necessarily. In general, Nvidia cards don't play nice with Minecraft. My 980 OC can barely pull 45fps at random intervals. Nvidia cards have also been known to force enable AA in minecraft even after it is disabled, causing undesired effects and graphical glitches. And Vsync causes even more issues.

To OP: If you still haven't resolved this, look into Nvidia specific Minecraft problems, there are several other threads that can help. Unless yours is like mine, in which case good luck to you my friend.
