specs:
AMD FX 8370 @4.6GHZ
2x Nvidia Geforce GTX 660
16gb of DDR3 - 2133
all sitting on a Asus TUF Sabertooth 990fx r3.0
some odd 1200W power supply i found in the trash but tests out fine

temps are good, no throttling. I get 200+fps on max settings in dirt 3. Benches just fine. When i play minecraft with shaders, i get about 40% usage on one gpu and 20% on the other, and none of my cores ever reach 60% usage on my CPU, I have the latest nvidia driver and 64 bit Java. Anything i can do?

EDIT: recently got the cpu up to 5 GHZ, but it doesn't make any difference.

Solution

Glad you solved your problem!

Nothing wrong, Minecraft isnt very recourse intensive (its just blocks lmao) what fps do you usually get in mc? I have an 8 core with a gtx1050ti and never see more then 20% usage on anything and mc runs at 300+ fps

I am always monitoring rescource usage with a task manager on one of my monitors.... Nothing showing up that, and a scan with windows defender shows nothing. It started when i got my second 660, ill try disabling SLI.

Do any other games have this problem? If not uninstall mc and reinstall

I have tried taht, I will try reinstalling java. Disabling SLI had no effect.

SLI wont have anything to do with it, have you done any major changes lately? software updates, hardware upgrades?

Also how does one "find" a 1200W psu in the garbage??? there had to have been something wrong with it... those are expensive

Ohhh... minecraft. A few things I can think of that might help you:

1.-Make sure render distance is down. It can kill fps.
2.-Download Optifine. It will help fps.
3.-If playing online... is it ping? Having a shakey connection to a server can give the appearance of low frames.
4.-Purge your computer of any unneeded data that might slow it down.
5.-You could try an alternate download of minecraft.

That's all I got, -PCth

In my case I can disprove 1 2 and 3, My render is max, no optifine, and my internet is crap yet i still get 300+ fps.... just saying 😛

So you are measuring fps of 300+? What is the problem? (p.s.-having optifine will always help, turning your render down will always help too.)

I dont have a problem 😛 just responding

Oh... thought you were that protagonist. Sorry. 😛

Honestly man I don't know what to tell you.... I can't see any problem... PSU In the trash xD bit odd but hey it works.

Glad you solved your problem!
