Minecraft on Intel G31/G33 Windows 10 Preview

Yolo!

Running Windows 10 Preview. Intel G31/G33. Just installed Minecraft. My feathers have been ruffled, to say the least. I got some crap when I booted it about my drivers not being up to date and unsupported. There was somebody on YT with a G31 and it worked for them. I'm just wondering if Windows 10 is the problem for some reason? I can't think of anything else. The Intel Update Utility didn't find any newer drivers. :/ |-(

Dead annoyed.

Any ideas what's wrong? =)

A.

Went to the support page (from Minecraft) and it suggest that the driver was outdated , or that I had invalid memory allocation...? Say what?

P.P.S: And yes, I've run dxdiag.

Solution
The 260X is my current card, it works well for me. I can run most of my games (BF3, Insurgency, War Thunder) at medium settings, 1080p. It normally manages a solid 60FPS.

However, your computer is very old, and very slow. Therefore, your CPU would bottleneck your graphics card. The R7 250 would be the very most I recommend for that.

I'm waiting on @Woody1999's opinion too, but what do you think I should do then? Can I replace my chip? (I'm fairly sure the answer is yes, but I want to know: 1) Whether it really is possible, 2) How to do it. =D

Hai. Sorry I'm late.

You can't just magic up a new chipset with a plastic sheet and a bit of solder, you'll need a brand new motherboard for that. If you want, I can mail you an old Radeon HD 5450 (a graphics card) which supports Minecraft. Might be a week before I can though.

PERFECT!!!!!! You're a really good mate Woody ;) I luv ya =P lol

(notice, "ya", not "you". there's a difference ;)

So you've got an old desktop with graphics only meant to display word documents and webpages.
You can't change it because it's soldered to the motherboard.
And you updated to windows 10 that doesn't have "proper" driver support for your hardware.
FYI, your hardware isn't really "support" beyond windows 7.

But, here's the latest drivers you can get: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18228/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-Driver-for-Windows-7-64-exe-

That should enable minecraft to work, because you didn't have the drivers before.

I've advised "Mario" to get himself a copy of Windows 7, as it is the best his hardware can really support. I also linked him the drivers you suggested. He's dealing with someone on r/microsoftsoftwareswap as we speak.

Check out my thread on minecraftforum.net - specifically posts #1 and #4.

Those posts contain crash logs. BTW, if this message appears as a reply to whomever, it's not just for them. This post is for everybody to chime in on. Replying is the only way I found to use HTML markup for my comment (or BB code or whatever it is X-P).

P.S: Yeah, I'm 'AlexEagle8128' =P

Nice find Wooders ;) I didn't think you could get anything decent (cheaply) that wasn't intel. Thus, I never looked in the first place :DD lol. How well will this card fair? I can't find the list of supported cards that I had before. :-/

Thanks.

P.S: Off-topic, anyone played One More Line? (That's rhetorical) Try it. It's an awesome game ;) don't get too addicted tho! XD

EDIT:

Found a page on AMD's website: http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/r7
Look further down. Says it's 'perfect for Windows 10', supports OpenGL4.1 (I think. Can't quite remember)
Obviously, a lot of it will just be sales-talk, but it's not baseless and obviously all good stuff ;)

The R7 250 is hardly a graphics-crunching monster of a card, but it'll certainly do the trick in your case. It should run most games at low settings, Minecraft being an exception. It will run Minecraft really well.

If you have a look at your motherboard specs and find the maximum amount of RAM supported (it should be at least 4GB), then get yourself two matching 2GB sticks of DDR2, you could have a pretty decent machine. You might be able to run Windows 7! :p

P.S: Just come back off holiday and am ready to buy a card, and the R7 250 isn't much more expensive, should I go for that?
EDIT: Just realized you were talking about the 250 anyway :p
how about the 260x?

thx
