Minecraft - Optifine

I recently downloaded minecraft back again and i tried installing optifine but every time it downloads it downloads as a text file but when i drag it to the desktop to open with i don't see java as an option i don't know how to fix this as its gotten me very tilted the past few days. The current java version i have it the up to date version and i have windows 10 . Any help is appreciated

if you right click on it and go to open with then go to advanced options, from the advanced options search look for java in your program files and you should be able to set the java exe in program files as the program to launch it with and it should fix your problem

I did as you asked and chose java.exe but every time i try to open it, It just opens cmd for 1 centi second and closes quickly and nothing happens from their on.?
