Kids got me playing minecraft with them again. I wont lie that I am a graphics snob to first thing to do is mod the game. For minecraft this includes installing Optifine which downloads as an executable .jar file. The problem is, even though I have Java installed, the download has that lifeless piece of paper look and I cannot even get it to open by rightclicking and doing 'open with'. What can I do to install this file. Thanks for any help.

Solution
Hey there,
I used to play Minecraft a whole lot and installed Optifine countless times on many different versions. Although I am not an expert in software, I would try to re-download Java from their website again. This usually works for me and after the installation, I can right click the file and select "Open with" and use, from what I have seen, an application called "Java SE Binary". If successful, you should be able to install it to your Minecraft folder.

Before installing Optifine, make sure you have downloaded the original "vanilla" of the version you want to run Optifine with. For example, you must have vanilla installed Minecraft 1.14.4 in order to install Optifine for 1.14.4

Hope this helps! :)

So I am also having the issue listed, but I'm the biggest noob when it comes to stuff like this. I went to Java.com and downloaded Java there, but I still cannot "Open with Java SE Binary." Got any other ideas?
