While that;s great an all, I prefer to host my own server. Easier to manage, free (Except electricity) and no limits.
I would tend to agree with you, but many people do not have very good upload speeds. Their backwoods DSL (or worse) might be good enough to play, but not to host. That being said, I can't help but wonder if some of the third-party hosting companies that already offer Minecraft servers wouldn't be a better deal.

Straight from Majong: "After making a shitload of money on Minecraft, we realized that the big money is in MMOs with strong IPs. So show me the Benzes."

Guys, yes this is a bit pricey compared to other sites. Yes this doesn't make much sense for people who are even a little technologically literate. This service isn't for those people. This service is for say little 10 year old timmy who wants to show his friends that have moved away what hes doing in minecraft even though he is living with his 90 year old grandmother that can barely turn on a PC and doesn't trust purchasing anything online from 99% of the companies out there.

This looks to be a much easier pitch to get the old folks to purchase it. Its from the company that made the game, its got a legit customer support set up. It doesn't require much if any set up. etc.

Yes, i pay 30 for 8gbs and this is probably half a gig, so by that logic if you could upgrade, i would be paying 208 dollars. Also the fact is its vinilla and easy to grief.
