Hi. I recently just bought a new laptop (Asus UX303UB) but I'm having issues with Minecraft. Here are some specs:
Intel i7 6500U @ 2.5GHz
12 GB memory
NVIDIA GeForce 940M 2 GB
3200x1800 native resolution
My initial problem was that Minecraft wasn't running from the dedicated GPU. Once I figured out how to do that and got it running, I realized the frame rate was half of what I was getting when it was running from the processor. I was running Minecraft in 1080p both times because I figured my native resolution would be too much. But no matter what resolution I run it in, it's the same thing: the GPU runs at half the FPS that HD Graphics does. So at 3200x1800, onboard runs at 30 FPS, the GPU runs at 15 FPS. At 1080p, onboard runs at 60 FPS, the GPU runs at 30 FPS. I made sure that vsync was off both in Minecraft and in the NVIDIA control panel. I thought maybe it was the 128x128 texture pack I was using but taking that off made absolutely no difference. Yes, windowed mode runs at a ridiculously high FPS but the problem is it's microscopic on my screen so it has to be full screen. All my drivers are up to date as well, and I just downloaded the newest version of Java.
I don't really know where to go from here. Any ideas? Thank you.
